As a full synthetic fluid with excellent oxidation stability, ATF Dexron VI typically supports extended service intervals of 100,000–160,000 km under normal driving conditions. For severe service (heavy towing, extreme temperatures, stop-and-go traffic), intervals of 60,000–100,000 km are recommended. Always consult your vehicle manufacturer’s guidelines.
Can I use this ATF in place of older Dexron III/H fluids?
Yes, GM Dexron VI is backward compatible and can be used in all transmissions that previously specified Dexron III, Dexron III/H, or earlier Dexron versions. However, it should not be used where a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) fluid is specified, as those require different friction characteristics.
