Base Oil 6cSt Group III

Product Description

Base Oil 6cSt  are subjected to the highest level of mineral oil refining of the base oil groups. Although they are not chemically engineered, they offer good performance in a wide range of attributes as well as good molecular uniformity and stability. They are commonly mixed with additives and marketed as synthetic or semi-synthetic products because of this. Their viscosity index is above 120 while the level of sulphur is below 0.03%.

Applications

Base Oil 6cSt  is a high-performance Group III base oil with good oxidation stability, low sulphur content, high viscosity index and excellent low temperature fluidity. This line of products is widely used as blending components in a variety of industrial and automotive lubricants, functional fluids and can also be used as a improver for low viscosity index base oils.

An Essential Component in Lubricants

It is a key ingredient in the formulation of lubricants, acting as the primary substance that supports the performance and function of oils in various mechanical applications. Base Oil 4 cSt  typically refined from crude oil or synthesized from chemical compounds to create a stable and effective lubricant base. Base oils are essential for automotive, industrial, and marine applications due to their lubricating properties, which help to reduce friction, wear, and corrosion in machines and engines.

Types of Base Oils

Base oils are classified into five categories, ranging from Group I to Group V, based on their refining process and properties:

  1. Group I: These base oil are the least refined base oils, obtained through solvent refining processes. While they are affordable, they tend to have higher levels of impurities, affecting their performance in extreme conditions.
  2. Group II: More refined than Group I, Group II oils are produced using hydrocracking, which improves their stability and reduces impurities. They offer better performance in high-temperature applications.
  3. Group III: Known as synthetic oils, these are highly refined and offer superior thermal stability, oxidation resistance, and performance in both high and low temperatures.
  4. Group IV: Fully synthetic oils, typically produced from polyalphaolefins (PAOs). They offer exceptional performance in extreme conditions, making them ideal for high-performance vehicles and industrial applications.
  5. Group V: These oils consist of specialty synthetic oils, including esters and other non-PAO oils.

Importance of Base Oil 4 cSt  in Lubricants

Base Oil 4 cSt  provide several important benefits in lubricant formulations. They are responsible for:

  • Viscosity Control: Ensuring the lubricant maintains its flow characteristics at different temperatures.
  • Oxidation Stability: Preventing the breakdown of the oil when exposed to heat and oxygen.
  • Wear Protection: Reducing friction between moving parts to prevent wear and tear.
  • Additive Compatibility: Serving as a carrier for various additives that enhance the oil’s performance.
