Engine Oil – Introduction

DANA Engine oil is supplied to many countries

Engine oil is one of the substances that comprise base oils enhancing with various additives. Motor Oil is useful for the lubrication of internal combustion engines.

The main function of motor oil is to reduce friction and wear on moving parts and to keep the engine free from sludge and detergents.

The Engine oil also neutralizes the acid that originates from the fuel and from the oxidation of lubricant, it helps in improving the sealing of piston rings, and it also cools the engine through carrying heat away from moving parts.

These engine oils formulate for use in CNG, LPG and LNG operational vehicles.

We here at DANA Lubes ensure that the engine oil manufacturers is of top-notch quality and has been delivering content outcomes with happy customers all around the world.

Natural Gas – Introduction

Natural gases creates over centuries deep within the earth. It extracts and then cleans so that all the impurities will remove and natural gas becomes marketable.

The byproducts obtain after processing of natural gas consist of ethane, propane, butane, pentane, and higher molecular weight hydrocarbons.

LPG extracts from natural gas, the natural gas and petroleum steam emerge from the ground.

CNG prepares with the help of compressing natural gas, which is mainly composed of methane to less than 1% of the volume it occupies at standard atmospheric pressure.

Although CNG is cheaper and cleaner, LPG has a higher calorific value.

Major Automobile related applications of Natural Gas

CNG

1)     Automobiles

Any vehicle running on petrol/diesel can convert to a bi-fuel vehicle. With the installation of CNG cylinder in the trunk in combination with the CNG injunction system and the assisting electronics, the automobile can convert into a bi-fuel vehicle. In the USA, CNG vehicles introducing in a variety of commercial vehicles, from light-duty trucks and sedans like taxi cabs to medium-duty trucks like delivery and postal plans.

2)     Locomotives

CNG locomotives operate with several railroads. The Napa Valley Wine Train was successfully retrofitted with a diesel locomotive to run on CNG before 2002. This converted locomotive did upgrade to utilize a computer-controlled fuel injection system in May 2008 and is now the Napa Valley Wine Train’s primary locomotive.

LPG

LPG is widely used all across the world in a large number of vehicles including light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles.

Advantages of using CNG and LPG as an automobile fuel

CNG

  • These CNG vehicles have lower maintenance costs when compared with other fossil-fuel-powered vehicles.
  • The CNG is a cheaper alternative
  • Natural gas not only disperse easily but also is not flammable, this makes CNG a cheaper alternative.
  • Greenhouse gases emission is significantly reduced as compared to gasoline vehicles.

LPG

  • LPG is non-toxic and non-corrosive.
  • It requires lesser space than CNG for storage.
  • Like CNG, LPG is a cheaper alternative as compared to gasoline or diesel.
  • It also has lower emissions than gasoline or diesel.

Popular grade – SAE 15w40

High grade Engine Oil is produced at DANA

SAE 15w40 is a superior low-ash, catalyst compatible, Para-synthetic engine oil that that is formulated for use in CNG (Compressed Natural Gas), LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) or LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas). These fuels are used in a variety of vehicles like transit buses, school buses, refuse trucks, airport and intercity shuttles and delivery fleets.

High-quality base oils refined with modern additive technology guarantee optimum lubrication reliability over the entire temperature range. The SAE 15W-40 grade works very well with the new generation of engines using multi-valve technology.

The notation SAE (Society of Automation Engineering) 15W-40 is given for determining working characteristics with respect to working temperature, the numbers less than 25 are written with a W, as they denote winter viscosity, similarly at higher temperatures, a different value of viscosity is recorded due to increased kinetic energy.

A carefully balanced, low-ash performance mixture of a highly shear stable viscosity index properly blended into Synthetic plus CNG Engine Oil SAE 15W-40 can provide a host of performance benefits:

  • The higher level of these anti-wear additives can meet the demanding requirements of on-highway applications.
  • Excellent wear protection for diesel and gasoline engines converted into LPG and CNG vehicles.
  • An appropriate composition ensures that the piston and engine provide excellent cleanliness.
  • It provides excellent protection for valve stem deposits and valve seat recession.
  • It also provides excellent protection against deposit formation on the piston crown, combustion chamber and cylinder walls
  • Prolonged valve and spark plug life
  • Reduced bearing corrosion
  • Superior low volatility characteristics
  • Longer oil life
  • Very good catalyst compatibility
  • Increased engine life and reduced maintenance costs due to downtime.
